What is Kriya Yoga?

Kriya Yoga is a meditation technique that quickly accelerates one’s spiritual growth.

It is an ancient technique that was hidden in secrecy for many centuries. It was revived in 1861, when the great yogi Mahavatar Babaji taught the technique to his disciple Lahiri Mahasaya during their meeting in the Himalayas.

It was first made widely known by Paramhansa Yogananda in his Autobiography of a Yogi.

According to Yogananda, Kriya is the most effective technique available to mankind today for reaching the goal of Yoga: union with the Divine.

Course Structure

In this stage you will learn the basic techniques of meditation as taught by Paramhansa Yogananda and the Energization Exercises, his unique contribution to the science of yoga.
Level 2 is a comprehensive exploration of the science of yoga presented by Swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda and founder of Ananda Sangha in his book ‘The Art and Science of Raja Yoga: 14 Steps to Higher Awareness’.
Level 3, Discipleship, introduces you to the topic of the guru-disciple relationship and gives you, if you choose, an opportunity to become a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda. You will then become eligible to learn the advanced technique of AUM meditation.
Level 4, Kriya Preparation, prepares you for initiation into Paramhansa Yogananda’s most advanced technique, Kriya Yoga, described by him as the “jet airplane” route to God. Levels 1 – 3 are pre-requisites for this step.
Kriya Yoga Initiation is offered to students who have successfully completed the four preliminary levels. Initiation ceremonies are periodically conducted in many major cities in India.
